Emailed Payslips Using Telecom

Telecom are currently making changes to their service, meaning you will not be able to send emailed payslips using their server from 30th September 2014.

We have talked to Telecom and understand there are two types of customers. We discuss both, and outline suggested solutions.

You are an Xtra Business customer, and you are using their Officemail service.
  • Telecom tell us that this usually means you have your domain, or email, or both, hosted with Telecom.
  • From 30th September, you will need to use the following settings which you change by going to Produce Payslips / Setup / Emailed Payslips.
SMTP Host :
Port : Under Advanced Settings, make the Port number 587
Authentication : Under Advanced Settings, Tick Use Authentication, then enter your Telecom user name and password.

Email payslips should now work again with these settings. See below for an alternative option.

You are a "normal" Xtra customer, probably not hosting a website with Xtra, and possibly registered with them as a residential customer.
  • The above settings will not work because you are not an Xtra Business customer using their Officemail service.
  • You will no longer be able to email payslips using
  • The alternative is to use our free Cloud Delivery service, which sends the payslips via our email server, avoiding the need to use any Telecom settings.
  • You change over to this method by going to Produce Payslips / Setup / Emailed Payslips / Advanced Settings and tick Cloud Delivery.
  • Once on this method, the process for sending payslips each pay is the same as it has always been.
